Microsoft is giving cryptocurrency exchanges more advertising opportunities by allowing eligible advertisers to use Audience Ads in markets where crypto advertising is already permitted.
The update means approved cryptocurrency exchanges can now access Microsoft’s broader native advertising inventory, rather than relying mainly on search placements.
Microsoft Audience Ads appear across its network of content, news and partner sites, helping advertisers reach users while they browse online. For cryptocurrency exchanges, this could create more opportunities to build brand awareness and connect with potential customers outside of high-intent search activity.
However, the change does not mean Microsoft is relaxing its rules around cryptocurrency advertising. Advertisers must still meet the company’s Cryptocurrency and Related Products policy requirements and comply with local laws and regulations.
These requirements vary depending on the market, so crypto exchanges will still need to ensure they meet all relevant eligibility and compliance standards before running campaigns.
The update will be watched closely by advertisers to see whether more cryptocurrency exchanges start using Audience Ads and whether Microsoft expands crypto advertising access further in the future.
