YouTube adds CTA options to Promote website visit campaigns

YouTube has introduced an update to its Promote feature that gives creators and marketers more control when running website traffic campaigns. You can now select a specific call to action, such as “Book now,” “Get quote,” or “Contact us,” instead of relying on generic options.

More targeted campaign goals

Previously, Promote campaigns for website visits offered broad objectives that were less aligned with business outcomes. The new update makes it possible to pair ads with precise actions.

  • A consulting service can use “Get quote.”
  • An event organiser can add “Book now.”
  • A service provider can choose “Contact us.”

This shift makes it easier to tie video promotions to measurable business results, helping both individual creators and marketing teams demonstrate value.

How YouTube Promote works

Promote is YouTube’s built-in ad creation tool, accessible directly from YouTube Studio.

It enables creators to run ads for Shorts and videos without needing to navigate the Google Ads platform. Campaigns can be set up to:

  • Gain more subscribers
  • Increase video views
  • Drive visits to a website

All campaign creation and management take place in the Promotions tab of YouTube Studio, making it straightforward for users who may not be familiar with traditional advertising tools.

Currently, the update is available only on desktop.

Why this matters

For creators and marketers promoting services, products, or events, the ability to define a specific call to action can improve return on investment. It also makes performance tracking more accurate by linking spend to clear user actions.

For marketing teams managing client accounts, this update helps strengthen reporting by tying YouTube campaigns directly to conversion-related outcomes.

Looking ahead

This update is another step in YouTube’s broader strategy to provide creators with accessible yet more powerful monetisation and promotion tools.

For marketers, it creates a clearer connection between video campaigns and the customer journey, offering stronger evidence of how YouTube contributes to wider marketing goals.
